Early Life and Education of Aksel Lund Svindal

Aksel Lund Svindal was born in the municipality of Lrenskog in the county of Akershus, Norway, on December 26, 1982.

Bjrn Svindal and Ina Lund gave Aksel a set of skis for his third birthday when he was three years old.

Because Bjrn and Ina were both skiers, they pushed their children to learn the sport as well.

Because his grandparents owned a cabin in the Geilo municipality, his family spent every winter at the ski resort town. Cause of its ski resorts and mountain routes, Geilo is a popular tourist destination, and it is where Aksel started to ski.

Svindal grew up in Fetsund, Lillestrm Viken, until he was six years old. His family then relocated to the municipality of Skedsmo, where he spent the remainder of his youth.

On October 28, 2001, Aksel Lund Svindal made his World Cup debut at the age of 18. He won gold in the combined race and silver in the super-G event at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Tarvisio, Italy.

Injury of

When Svindal was on a first training run in the Birds of Prey downhill ski course in Beaver Creek, Colorado, on November 27, 2007, he received a severe injury. He had fractured bones in his face and a major gash in his crotch and abdomen after smashing into a safety fence.

He was unable to return for the remainder of the 2008 season. However, Svindal returned to the 43rd World Cup season in October 2008, and he was better than ever.

Following his recovery, he won the downhill and super-G events at the same ski course where he had been gravely injured the year before.

Svindal won a silver medal in the downhill competition at the 2010 Winter Olympics on February 15. Norway won its hundredth silver medal at the Winter Olympics, a milestone no other country has yet accomplished.

Svindal earned his first Olympic gold medal in the men’s super-G category on February 19, 2010. On February 23, he also won a bronze medal in the giant slalom.

Retirement of Askel Lund Svindal
