Andrei Svechnikov was born in Neftegorsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Russia, on March 26, 2000. Igor Svechnikov was his father, and Elena Svechnikov was his mother. Evgeny Svechnikov is his older brother.

Andrei began his professional ice hockey career as a junior with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League in North America (USHL).

Canadian Hockey League (CHL)

Andrei Svechnikov was selected first overall in the 2019 CHL Import Draft. He was chosen by the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

In his debut season with the squad, he scored 40 goals and added 32 assists for a total of 72 points in 44 games.

National Hockey League (NHL)

• He was the second overall pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. On June 30, 2018, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the organization.
• On October 4, 2018, he made his NHL debut for the Carolina Hurricanes. In a 2–1 loss to the New York Islanders, Andrei was held scoreless.

• The following day, he scored his first NHL point. In a 3–1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, it was an assist.
• Similarly, on October 7, he scored his first NHL goal in an 8–5 triumph over the New York Rangers.
• As a result, he became the first player born in the millennium to score an NHL goal.

• On October 29, 2019, Andrei became the first NHL player to score a “Michigan” goal. In a 2–1 win over the Calgary Flames, he scored against David Rittich.
• On December 17, he scored a goal similar to this one against the Winnipeg Jets.
• Every other day, Andrei has improved and polished his skills. Then the next season, he broke his own record by scoring 24 goals and 37 assists for 61 points.
• In the 2020 Qualifying Round, the Carolina Hurricanes faced the New York Rangers. In Game 2 of the series, Andrei scored a hat trick. The squad won by a score of 4–1.
• In his tournaments, Andrei has been breaking records after records. The earlier triumph was also the first in club postseason history for the Hurricanes/Hartford Whalers.

Injury to Andrei Svechnikov

In August of 2020, Andrei was hurt. It was an injury to the leg or ankle. In Game 3 of the best-of-seven series, he was injured after he collided with Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara in front of the net.

After his leg looked to buckle, his teammates assisted him. In addition, his team lost the game. Game 5 was won 2-1 by the Boston Bruins.

It was a severe sprain of the ankle. When first evaluated, it appeared to be quite serious. Chara pushed him out of his own way. Then Svechnikov grasped his right knee and knelt on the ice.
