That specific moniker stuck with him, and he grew to appreciate it. His real name, however, is Anthony Darelle McFarland.

The former defensive tackle graduated from Louisiana State University in 1999 with a degree in business management. At the same university, he began his professional football career. McFarland was also named SEC Defensive MVP in the 1996 Peach Bowl. However, triumph was not always theirs. The Tiger experienced a spectacular fall in 1998. McFarland was nonetheless named co-captain during his senior year at the university.

Darelle was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the first round of the 1999 NFL draft following his performance in the Senior Bowl.

Additionally, after eight years with the Buccaneers, Booger was picked by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2007 NFL Draft on October 17, 2006.

The Colts did not have a satisfactory run defense record in the league. Following McFarland’s addition to the club, the Colts’ defense improved. On November 10, against the Buffalo Bills, he recorded his first sack as a Colt.

Eventually, the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl, earning Booger his second Super Bowl ring.

Although he was not the most well-known football player, McFarland recorded 170 tackles and 22.5 sacks in 109 NFL games. He finished with 305 tackles in 80 games and won Super Bowl XXXVII in 2002.
