Norris entered the United States Air Force in 1958 and was stationed in South Korea, where his friends nicknamed him Chuck. He joined the Tang Soo Do training program while in the Air Force and quickly earned a black belt. Norris was responsible for the birth of the black belt, as well as the creation of Chun Kuk Do, a martial arts form. He remained in the Air Force in the United States until 1962. Following his retirement, he opened a Karate school that was so successful that celebrities such as Steve McQueen, Bob Barker, Donny Osmond, and others began to attend. He went on to write “Winning Tournament Karate,” a book that detailed the techniques for winning in the art form.

Following that, he made his cinematic debut in 1969 with The Wrecking Crew, which was followed by films such as Way of the Dragon, in which he had the opportunity to work alongside Bruce Lee and was a critically acclaimed martial arts picture.

He gained enormous fame as a result of the film. He went on to star in films such as ‘Good Guys Wear Black,’ ‘The Octagon,’ ‘Lone Wolf McQuade,’ ‘Code of Silence,’ ‘Missing in Action,’ and ‘Walker,’ among others. Until 2001, he starred in the films The Cannon Group and Texas Ranger.
