She was born in the state of Tennessee. She is an American citizen. During Brown’s pregnancy, her mother was an alcoholic. Her mother, unable to care for her infant daughter, placed her for adoption. Cyntoia Brown did, however, run away from home when she was 16 years old. She began staying at an InTown Suites with a man called Garion McGlothen Jarvis. In the streets, he was known as Kut-Throat or Kut.

Jarvis is said to have coerced her into sex trafficking while she was a teenager. Brown’s pimp, he became. At the age of adolescence, she began using involuntary prostitution to make money and maintain Jarvis and herself. Jarvis is said to have threatened, beaten, and raped Brown several times.

The Murder Of Johnny Allen

On the night of August 5, 2004, Cyntoia encountered a 43-year-old Johnny Mitchell Allen in the parking lot of a Sonic Drive-In on Murfreesboro Road in Nashville, Tennessee. Allen was a real estate salesman and a US Army veteran, and the neighborhood is noted for its prostitution. Brown allegedly consented to have sexual relations with Allen in exchange for $150. They ordered dinner and traveled to his home on Mossdale Road once the deal was completed.

Brown shot Allen in the back of the head with her 40-caliber handgun inside his home. Brown then departed in Allen’s Ford-150, stealing his wallet and two weapons with him.

She was charged with one crime of premeditated murder, one count of murder, and one count of aggravated robbery after being captured. She was only 16 years old at the time, but she was put on trial as an adult.

Brown never denied shooting Allen, but he did admit to stealing his money and guns. She denied being a prostitute in an interview, as well as having sex with Allen. She claimed, however, that she shot him in self-defense. Brown claimed Allen attempted to get the firearm when the two were lying in bed together, and she shot him with her own weapon in self-defense.

According to the posture in which Allen’s body was located, investigators believe he was asleep when he was shot. This fact bolstered the prosecution’s case that Brown’s murder was motivated by his desire to rob Allen.
