Dana, the actor in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, began his musical career in high school as a member of the band Badaxe. Other members of his band included David Carruth on guitar, Steve Ward on percussion, and Stacy Moreland on vocals, and they were regarded as the rising hard rock band.

Dana left his band in early 1979 and was approached by Ozzy Osbourne to create a new band. He became a good buddy of Ozzy while auditioning for his band and eventually became his new bassist. He did not, however, last long and was replaced by Randy Rhoads.

Following the release of their second album, the band decided to split and announced their final show on August 26, 1988 in Anaheim, California.

Following the disbandment of the Vinnie Vincent invasion, Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum embark on their next venture, forming the band Slaughter.

Dana remarked that his band members were “distinctly different animals,” although sharing the same thoughts. However, he believed that it would be the ideal blend of varied characters. Despite numerous roadblocks, the band ultimately came together in January 1989, and both Mark and Dana began to work on a song.

Later on, their band was missing two members, and they were looking for two new players who shared their “one for all and all for one” approach. Another condition was that band members should not have a drinking or drug issue, and they should be highly “fan oriented.”
