In 1966 and 1967, he made his television debut on The Merv Griffin Show, where he sang while wearing a mask, explained his name, and stated that he wanted to be known for his music. In 1967, he signed a contract with Columbia Pictures and landed the role of Joshua Bolt in the film Here Comes the Bride, alongside Bobby Sherman, Robert Brown, and Bridget Hanley. From September 25, 1968, until September 18, 1970, it was broadcast on ABC. He became well-known for his role as Detective Ken “Hutch” on Starsky & Hutch, which he performed from 1975 to 1979 and directed three episodes of. Soul eventually decided to return to music, and producer Tony Macaulay assisted him in recording many singles, including “Don’t Give Up on Us,” which reached number one in the UK and the US, and “Don’t Give Up on Us,” which reached number one in the UK in 1977.
