Early life and Education:

Donna Lynn Dixon was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on July 20, 1957. Earl Dixon, her father, was the owner of various nightclubs, including Hillbilly Heaven in Lorton, Virginia. Her family moved to Lorton when she was a child due to her father’s employment, and she attended Groveton High School.

She enrolled at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., to study anthropology, but she dropped out immediately to concentrate on her modelling career.

Career:

Dixon began her career as a model for the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency in New York. She has crowned Miss Virginia USA in 1976 and participated in Miss USA the following year. She earned another title in 1977, this time Miss District of Columbia World, and then went on to compete in the Miss World USA pageant in 1977, finishing second. She began her acting career in the early 1980s when she earned the role of Sonny Lumet in Tom Hanks’ sitcom “Bosom Buddies.” She appeared in the TV movie “Margin for Murder” and two episodes of the TV series “The Love Boat” in 1981. She appeared alongside Howard Hesseman and Dan Aykroyd in the comedy picture “Doctor Detroit” in 1983. Her and Aykroyd went on to star in “Twilight Zone: The Movie,” yet they never shared a scene despite being in the same cast. She played Sarah Wilder in the TV movie “No Man’s Land” the following year, and Nancy Cookie Miller in an episode of “Hawaiian Heat” the following year. She starred alongside Aykroyd in “Spies Like Us” and was a regular on the TV show “Berrenger’s.”

Lauren Sullivan in “Charmed Lives,” a comedy TV series about the lives of two roommates that aired in 1987, and Joan Teniwitch in the episode “Blonde on Blonde” in the sitcom “Moonlighting” the same year. She appeared in another film with Aykroyd in 1988, this time in the comedy “The Couch Trip.” She appeared in the 1989 films “Speed Zone” and “It Had to Be You,” both directed by Joseph Bologna and Renee Taylor. She had a three-year vacation from acting after that, then returned in 1992 with roles in the TV movie “C. C. P. D.” and the film “Wayne’s World.”

In 1994, she played Bonnie in the criminal comedy “Exit to Eden,” about a sexual fantasy island, and she was a guest character in an episode of the popular sitcom “The Nanny,” starring Fran Drescher. In the same year, she starred as Maureen Dean in the biographical film “Nixon,” and in 1997, she made a brief appearance in the television series “Soul Man.” Dixon’s most recent film role was in the romance thriller “Da Sweet Blood of Jesus,” in which she played Ms Blair, a doctor who is cursed by a mysterious ancient item.

Relationship

Dixon and Aykroyd met on the set of the film “Doctor Detroit” in 1982. They began dating nearly immediately and married a few months later, in 1983; the couple has appeared in several films together. From 1975 to 1979, Aykroyd was a cast member of the late-night comedy show “Saturday Night Live,” for which he won an Emmy Award. He is also well-known for his roles in a number of films, most notably “Ghostbusters” and its sequels. Danielle, Stella Irene August, and Belle Kingston are the couple’s three daughters. They are still married as of April 2020 and have been seen together at a number of public events and movie premieres.

Dixon and Aykroyd collaborate on more than just the big screen. They are heavily interested in both direct and indirect philanthropic initiatives. Aykroyd helped found the Blue Line Foundation, which focuses on redeveloping homes and property devastated in the 2005 floods in New Orleans, as well as repairing homes in other parts of the United States. Dixon was previously married to Paul Stanley, the lead singer of the rock band Kiss. Stanley composed the iconic song “I Still Love You,” which can be found on the group’s album “Creatures of the Night,” after she ended the relationship. Dixon has worked as a voice-over actor and producer since retiring from physical performance. Fran Drescher, a fellow actress who played a matchmaker for Dixon and her future husband, is one of her closest friends. Donna is the sister-in-law of writer Peter Aykroyd and the daughter-in-law of actor P. H. Aykroyd through her husband. All three of her daughters are working as actresses in Hollywood, attempting to build a name for themselves.
