Chapman flew to Vietnam with Big Kenny and John Rich to chronicle the story of Niles Harris, a Vietnamese in the film ‘The 8th of November: A True Story of Pain and Honor.’ Gary directed, wrote, produced, and composed the score for the documentary.

Gary Chapman has three marriages to his credit. Chapman married his first wife, Amy Grant, on June 19, 1982. However, the marriage split up, and Gary filed for divorce in 1999. Chapman married his third wife, Cassie Piersol, on December 22, 2008. In 2010, the pair launched a project called A Hymn a Week to honor Chapman’s father and mother’s musical legacy. Chapman’s mother died on December 26, 2002, and his father died on April 12, 2009.
