As of 2022, George Soros has a staggering net worth of $9 billion. Building such jaw-dropping figures under his name took a lot of initial struggles and grinding for the currently 80-year-old man. Soros may be a billionaire today but people often neglect his work-ethic that pushed him to these levels.

The successful man has a long career timeline. He began his financial career at the merchant bank, Singer & Friedlander of London in 1954. Soon after, he left the job to work as an arbitrage trader for F.M. Mayer. In 1959, he moved to Wertheim & Co as an analyst and served 5 years under the company. From 1963 to 1973, Soros served as a Vice President at Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder.

By 1970, he had saved enough money to start Soros Fund Management. He eventually did and became its chairman. In 1973, he founded Quantum Fund which later went on to become the largest hedge fund in the world.

In 1992, George shorted the British Pound and reportedly earned a profit of $1 billion within 24 hours. This astounding success earned him the title of “The Man Who Broke the Bank of England”.

George Soros Luxury Houses and Cars

Soros makes no compromise when it comes to living a lavish lifestyle. He has purchased a sprawling network of homes in the New York area. The Soros family owns a string of properties including the Southampton estate, a duplex on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, a residential compound in Katonah, New York, among others. Not only that, the billionaire has numerous luxury cars to his ownership. At the age of 90, the man can proudly look back at his successful and interesting work life.

George Soros Family and Early Life

George’s parents were Erzsebet and Tivadar. At the time, his family belonged to the upper-middle-class Hungarian Jews. His father worked as a lawyer. Sadly the family had to flee after the Nazis occupied Hungary in 1944.

As such, young Soros headed to England to pursue his education. He graduated from the London School of Economics in 1954 with a degree in Master of Science. To this day, he describes his family home as a Jewish antisemitic home.

Soros might have achieved everything as a finance person but he did scuffle when it came to surviving relationships. Altogether, he’s married three times. He exchanged his first holy vows with beautiful Annaliese Witschak in 1960. The couple shared 23 years of their marital timeline before parting ways in 1983. They share three children together.

That same year, following his divorce, George tied the knot with Susan Weber. Sadly, his relationship with Susan also could not last long and they separated in 2005. The couple had two children together.

Two times heartbroken Soros remained single for the next couple of years. In 2008, he met his third wife to be, Tamiko Bolton. Tamiko was the daughter of a Japanese-American nurse and a retired naval commander. After five years of courtship, the couple exchanged their “I do’s” in 2013. Ever since the duo has remained inseparable and makes frequent public appearances.
