Margo Dydek was a Polish professional basketball player best recognized for being the world’s tallest female professional basketball player. She played for many WNBA teams. In 1999, she received the Polish Gold Cross of Merit.

Margo Dydek was born on April 28, 1974, in Warsaw, Poland, to parents who were both over 6 feet tall. Katarzyna and Marta were Dydek’s two sisters. Her older sister, Katarzyna, played for the Colorado Xplosion, and her younger sister, Marta, played professionally in Spain.
Margo followed in the footsteps of her older sister Kashka and began playing basketball at a local club called “Huragan” in Wolomin, Poland. She then went on to play for the Poznan Olympia team, as well as other Polish and French teams before moving to the United States.
A career in the WNBA
The Utah Starzz selected Margo Dydek first overall in the 1998 WNBA Draft. The team was relocated to San Antonio and renamed the Silver Stars. Dydek was traded to the Connecticut Sun on April 16, 2005, in exchange for Katie Feenstra.
Dydek left the Connecticut Sun due to her pregnancy and signed with the Los Angeles Sparks, where Zheng Haixia previously played.

The end of life
