Greg Abbott Condemned as Migrant Kids Bussed to Freezing DC: ‘So Cruel’

On Sunday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott drew harsh condemnation on social media for his latest alleged migrant busing ploy, which saw people, including children, sent to the extremely cold Washington, D.C., on Christmas Eve.

Greg Abbott, along with fellow Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida, sparked outrage last year with his state’s new practice of busing without document’s immigrants and legitimate asylum seekers to Democratic-run areas in an effort to send a message to his political opponents about border security issues.

These came to controversial, as it has come out that migrants have frequently on wrong way and sent aboard buses under false pretenses, despite Texas’ claim that they are being transfer to destinations where they can meet with contacts.

Another busload of migrants arrived in Washington, D.C., late on Christmas Eve, near the home of Vice President Kamala Harris. According to CNN correspondent Noah Gray, the passengers onboard claimed to have traveled from Texas for two days. The temperature in D.C. that night was 14 degrees Fahrenheit, with a significant wind chill making conditions considerably more perilous.

As a result of this recent busing effort, which appears so close to a major holiday, Abbott became the target of harsh internet criticism. Though the migrants arrived from Texas, it’s unknown, that they were explicitly sent by Abbott, as has the case in the past.

On Sunday, Julián Castro, a Texas Democrat who formerly served in former President Barack Obama’s Cabinet and ran for president in 2020, said on Twitter that Abbott did not deserve to be in office.

“This is what @GreggAbbot TX, a Christian who doesn’t always care enough about others to behave like one, did to people for Christmas. Anyone who is willing to be as cruel to others does not deserve in office “Castro penned a letter.

“Governor Abbott claims to be a ‘pro-life Christian,’ yet has little respect for the lives of children left shivering in the freezing cold on Christmas Eve,” New York Democrat Ritchie Torres tweeted. “Dropping refugees off in 18-degree temperatures is so inhumane that it should be illegal.”

“Merry Christmas -AND- may Greg Abbott burn in hell for this,” tweeted Omari Hardy, a Democratic state representative from Florida.

“Human trafficking is Greg Abbott’s favorite Christmas activity,” tweeted Daniel Uhlfelder, a Florida-based attorney and politician.

Meanwhile, Texas Representative Joaquin Castro went a step farther, questioning Abbott’s fitness for future office.

“Worthless [Governor Abbott] dumping off folks with no money and no means on Christmas Eve near the VP’s house in 15 degree temperatures,” he tweeted. “How Christian of you, Greg Abbott. Being a cruel POS isn’t going to make you the next Republican President.
