Hurkacz competed in the 2018 French Open main draw and defeated Tennys Sandgren in the first round, marking his first win at a Grand Slam and an ATP main draw tournament. He made his US Open debut in August 2018, and the following month, he competed in the 2018 Next Generation ATP Finals in Milan.
