Ivan Lendl was born in Ostrava, Czech Republic, on March 7, 1960. Jiri Lendi and Olga Lendlova are his parents. He is his parents’ only child. His parents were both top tennis players in Czechoslovakia.

His mother was once ranked as the country’s second-best player. He began playing tennis as a child and spent his childhood in his hometown. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama.

Ivan Lendl’s Professional Life

He developed an interest in tennis as a child and later pursued it as a professional career. As a junior, he first drew the attention of the tennis world. He won the boy’s junior French Open and Wimbledon during his junior career. Following his victory, he was ranked as the world’s number one junior player. In 1978, he made his professional debut.

In 1979, he reached his first top-level singles final, and in 1980, he won seven singles titles. He was also a member of the Czechoslovakia Davis Cup-winning team.
