Peppers was raised in East Orange, New Jersey, by his mother, Ivory Bryant. Jabrill’s father, Terry Peppers, was involved in his life until he was incarcerated when he was seven years old. In January 2010, his older brother, Don Curtis, was shot and killed while working at the Lucky Joy Restaurant in Newark, New Jersey.

He started as a cornerback in his first year before moving to running back as a sophomore. The Cleveland Browns selected Peppers in the first round (25th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Peppers was the third safety taken in 2017, following Jamal Adams (6th overall) and Malik Hooker. Overall, I came in 15th On July 22, 2017, Peppers agreed to a four-year, $10.7 million deal with the Cleveland Browns, which includes a $5.6 million signing bonus. Peppers was moved back to strong safety by defensive coordinator Gregg Williams after the Browns acquired Damarious Randall. Head coach Hue Jackson named Peppers, along with free safety Damarious Randall and cornerbacks Denzel Ward and T. J. Carrie, as the starting strong safety to begin the regular season. In addition, he remained the team’s primary kick and punt returner. In Week 15, against the Denver Broncos, Peppers had six tackles, an interception, and a game-winning fourth-down sack.

On March 13, 2019, the New York Giants acquired Peppers from the Browns in exchange for Odell Beckham Jr. and Olivier Vernon, as well as Kevin Zeitler, the Browns’ first-round pick, and their second third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. In week 4, Peppers produced a 32-yard pick six against Dwayne Haskins in a 24–3 win over the Washington Redskins. The Giants picked up Peppers’ fifth-year option on April 29, 2020. For the 2020 season, Peppers was a captain on the special teams unit.
