Tambor’s former assistant Van Barnes had accused him of sexual harassment earlier in November 2017. Barnes, who is transgender, claimed Tambor made lewd remarks to her, propositioned her, and even threatened her if she complained.
Lysette claimed via Twitter post:
“He drew in close, placed his bare feet on top of mine, leaned against me, and began quick, discrete thrusts back and forth against my body. Through his thin pajamas, I felt his penis on my hip.”
The actor, on the other hand, denied the accusation, saying:
“I am aware that a former disgruntled assistant of mine made a private post implying that I had treated her improperly. I categorically and unequivocally reject and deny any and all implication and allegation that I have ever engaged in any inappropriate behavior toward this person or any other person with whom I have ever worked.”
He continued, saying:
“This baseless accusation disgusts and distresses me. Several Hollywood figures, including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, James Toback, Brett Ratner, and Ed Westwick, have been the subject of allegations and investigations in recent weeks. Westwick, like Tambor, quickly denied the allegations.”
Then, on November 16, 2017, his transgender co-star Trace Lysette accused Tambor of sexual harassment once more.
Lysette also claimed on Twitter that her “Transparent” co-star made inappropriate sexually suggestive comments to her and attempted to physically abuse her during a break in filming.
