Joni Ernst is an American politician who has served as the junior United States Senator for Iowa since 2015. She is the first female war veteran to hold the position. From 2011 through 2014, she worked in the Iowa State Senate. Ernst, a Republican, served in the Iowa Army National Guard for 22 years, from 1993 to 2015. Joni Kay Ernst was born in Red Oak, Iowa, to parents Marilyn and Richard Culver on July 1, 1970. She will be 50 years old in 2020. Ernst graduated with honors from high school and went on to Iowa State University to study psychology. Columbia State University awarded her a Master of Public Administration degree after that.

Gail’s ex-husband, like Joni, is a former military guy. He spent 28 years in the Army, rising through the ranks to Ranger and Drill Sergeant.

Joni enlisted in the Iowa State University ROTC program when she was 20 years old, in 1990. It was in this location that she met her husband. Libby Ernst, Joni and Gail’s daughter, is their only child. She began college at the United States Military Academy at West Point, following in her parents’ footsteps.

Cheating allegations

Joni announced in August 2018 that she and her spouse were divorcing. According to Joni’s court documents, Gail was a harsh husband who physically and mentally assaulted her. They’d been married for more than 25 years. So, what was the reason behind their breakup?

Joni claimed to have discovered an email relating to Gail and his previous girlfriend on their 25th wedding anniversary. Furthermore, Joni stated in her divorce papers that he had at least three indiscretions during their marriage. Gail, on the other hand, refuted Ernst’s allegations, accusing her of having an affair with a soldier while serving in the National Guard in the early 2000s. In 2019, their divorce was finalized.

Was Gail envious of his wife’s accomplishments?

“In the summer of 2016, I was interviewed by Candidate Trump for Vice President of the United States,” Joni stated in her divorce affidavit. I declined Candidate Trump because I knew it was not the best decision for me or my family… [Gail] despised my achievements and would insult me and become enraged whenever I reached a goal.”

 

Gal responded that he strived to be a good husband and father at all times. He left the Army in 2001 and began working as a Branch Manager for the United States Bank in Iowa in 2002. He was previously married to Ingrid Nesbit, with whom he shares two daughters, before marrying Joni.
