Kevin Greene is a well-known former professional football player and coach in the United States. Kevin began playing in 1985 and continued until 1999. He worked as an American football coach for nearly a decade after retiring from football. Kevin died in 2020, but the cause of his death was never revealed to the public.

Kevin Darwin Greene was born on July 31, 1962, in Schenectady, New York. Patricia Green and her husband, Therman Greene, had four children, one of whom was Kevin. Keith Greene is his brother, and Kristin Cosson and Karen Cobb are his sisters. His father was an army colonel. Kevin earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Auburn University.

Kevin was a happily married man. Tara Greene was his wife. In 1993, the couple exchanged wedding vows. The couple had two children soon after their wedding: a son, Gavin, and a daughter, Gabrielle. He appeared to be very close to his children.

While the coach stepped down as coach in 2014, he stated that he wanted to spend more time with his family and that he would return to American football once his children were in college. He was successful in keeping his personal life out of the public eye.

Early Years and Career

During his high school years, Kevin was a multi-talented athlete. He was a member of the basketball, American football, and High Jumper teams. He joined the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps after graduating from high school. Later, he enrolled at the University of Auburn and began playing American football. In the 1985 NFL Draft, he was chosen by the Los Angeles Rams.

He spent three years with the club before joining the San Francisco 49ers in 1988. He was named to the All-Pro Team and the Pro Bowl.

The player signed a three-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1993. He was the team’s top player until 1995 when he was traded to the Carolina Panthers. Kevin had to retire in 1998 due to injuries. Greene appeared in 228 games over the course of his 15-year career. In 2016, Greene was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
