Kevin Jones: Career after College

The athlete represented Virginia Tech and legendary coach Frank Beamer from 2000 to 2003. He is the football program at Virginia Tech’s highest-rated recruit to date.

Professional NFL Career

Kevin played well for the Detroit Lions in his debut season. He joined Hall of Famer Barry Sanders and Billy Sims as the only running backs in team history to rush for 1,000 yards in their debut.

In Week 7, Kevin replaced Matt as the starter versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He rushed for 105 yards on 23 carries and scored once in a Week 8 victory over the Chicago Bears of the same division.

On July 15, 2008, Kevin agreed to a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears. He was re-signed to a two-year contract on March 6, 2009. The person was intended to serve as Matt Forte’s main back-up.
