Kim Fox, the State’s Attorney, is accused of interfering in the Jussie Smollett case, resulting in the charges against Jussie being dropped. On February 19, 2019, Kim Foxx announced her withdrawal from the lawsuit owing to her “familiarity with a potential witness in the case.” For submitting a false police report, Jussie Smollett was charged with a class 4 felony. Jussie Smollett is also accused of orchestrating his own attack and filing a hate crime report.

However, on March 26, 2019, all accusations against Smollett were withdrawn. The public court file was ordered sealed by Judge Steven Watkins. Furthermore, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Joseph Magats, the office reached an agreement with Smollett’s lawyers in which prosecutors agreed to dismiss the charges if Smollett completed community service and forfeited his $10,000 bond. Similarly, according to police superintendent Eddie Johnson, justice was not served.
