Kliff Kingsbury, the current head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, held many Division I (NCAA) passing records during his playing career and also won the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 2002.

The former footballer, who later played for his high school teams, was a quarterback for the Texas Tech Red Raiders under coaches Spike Dykes from 1998-1999 and Mike Leach from 2000-2002.

He was selected by the New England Patriots in 2003 with 39 school records, 13 Big and 12 Conference records, and 7 NCAA FBS records, but he only played for them for a year. Similarly, he only played one season each with the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, Cologne Centurions, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007.

Following his outstanding season, he was hired as the Offensive Coordinator for the Texas A&M Aggies in 2012. He was nominated for the Broyles Award and was named Footballscoop.com Offensive Coordinator of the Year in 2012.

Later, on December 12, 2012, he was hired as a full-time head coach by the Texas Tech Red Raiders for a five-year contract. In 2014, his contract was extended until 2020.

Three of Kingsbury’s players were drafted in the 2016 NFL Draft: Le’Raven Clark, DeAndre Washington, and Jakeem Grant.
