On September 16, 1923, Harry Lee Kuan Yew, better known as Lee Kuan Yew, was born in Singapore, Straits Settlements. He was 91 years old and a Singaporean at the time of his death.

Also he was the son of Lee Chin Koon and Chua Jim Neo. He was born into a prosperous Chinese family who had lived in Singapore since the nineteenth century. His three brothers are Dennis Lee, Freddy Lee, and Lee Suan Yew, and his only sister is Monica Lee.

He went to the prestigious Raffles Institution and first took the Senior Cambridge exams in Singapore and Malaysia.

He attended Raffles College on an Anderson Scholarship from 1940 to 1942. Following that, he attended Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge, England, to study law during WWII.

In early 2015, he was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. By early March, he was on a ventilator and in critical condition, and he died on March 23, 2015.

He returned to Singapore in 1949. He gained invaluable political experience while working as an election agent for pro-British Progressive Party leader John Laycock’s law firm.

With the help of some English-educated middle-class men, he founded the People’s Action Party (PAP) as a front for the illegal Malayan Communist Party, which was backed by pro-communist trade unions.

In addition, in the 1955 elections, he won the Tanjong Pagar seat and became the Opposition leader. He represented the PAP in two negotiations about Singapore’s future constitutional status in London.

In the 1959 elections, the PAP won an absolute majority, capturing 43 of the 51 Legislative Assembly seats. Furthermore, Lee is sworn in as Singapore’s first Prime Minister following the country’s independence. He had a lot of problems in a variety of areas.
