Masayori ‘Masi’ Oka is an actor, digital effects artist, music director, and producer of Japanese descent. He rose to international prominence as Hiro Nakamura on NBC’s Heroes (2006) and Doctor Max Bergman on CBS’s Hawaii Five-0 (2010).

After graduating, Oka got his first position at George Luca’s motion picture firm, Industrial Light & Magic, with the goal of winning an Oscar in the technical field. Oka changed his career to acting in the year 2000. He started out with a few little jobs and commercials.

However, Oka’s big break came in 2006, when he was cast as Hiro Nakamura in Heroes. He was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series and the Primetime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his depiction of the character.

In addition, he played Bruce in the big screen adaptation of Get Smart. He co-presented an award alongside Hayden Panettiere, his Heroes co-star, at the 20th annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in 2007. He stated in 2015 that he would play Hiro Nakamura again in NBC’s Heroes Reborn. In 2017, he also worked as a producer on the film Death Note.
