Michael Mahon Hastings was born on January 28, 1980, in Malone, New York, as Michael Mahon Hastings. Dr. Molly Mahon and Dr. Brent Hastings were his parents. Jeff and Jon are his two younger siblings. Michael grew up in Malone till he was eleven years old. After that, the entire family relocated to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His mother was continuing her education in pediatric ophthalmology at McGill University at the time.

Michael went on to Lower Canada College, where he wrote a column for the student newspaper. His family moved to Vermont when he was 16 years old. He was at Rice Memorial High School at the time. He was the class president and a member of the school’s lacrosse and soccer teams. He began writing for Scholastic for young people after graduating in 1998. Michael Hastings and his death: On June 18, 2013, Michael’s car was involved in a single-vehicle collision in Los Angeles, and a witness to the accident stated that the car was traveling at a fast speed. It collided with a palm tree, and his body was completely burned. The car’s engine ejected and landed 50-60 yards away from the crash site. According to the LAPD, there was no foul play and the incident was an accident. On him, there were some drug residues. His brother also stated that he believed he was going through a manic episode similar to one he had 15 years ago when on narcotics. Michael also warned him that the FBI might be looking into him and that he was on to something major. However, nothing could be confirmed, and the FBI likewise denied that Michael would be interviewed.

Michael was engaged to Andrea Parhamovich, but she was assassinated in Bagdad while on duty. In May 2011, he married Elise Jordan, with whom he remained until his death in 2013. Elise was likewise unconcerned about any foul play in his death. The wedding took place in Holly Springs, Mississippi, while Elise worked as a copywriter for Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
