Michael  Wilding was an English theater, television, and film actor. He is  most known for series of films he made with Anna Neagle; he also worked with Alfred Hitchcock on two films, Under Capricorn (1949) and Stage Fright (1950). (1950). He was also Elizabeth Taylor’s second husband, with whom  he had two children.

Michael’s Career

Bitter Sweet (1933), Heads We Go (1933), and Channel Crossing (1933) all featured Wilding as an extra (1933). He was bitten by the acting bug and chose to pursue it professionally. Pastorale, an Austrian film, is said to have featured him.

In 1934, he made his Watford Repertory Company stage debut in The Ringer, and the following year, he made his London theatrical debut in Chase the Ace. He appeared in films such as Late Extra (1935), When Knights Were Bold (1936), and Wedding Group (1937). (1936). [2] On theater, he appeared in two musicals: Spread It Abroad and Home and Beauty.

Back in England, he performed in the first Gate Revue, followed by Let’s Face It, a revue, and Who’s Taking Liberty, a pantomime.There Ain’t No Justice (1939), Convoy (1940), and Tilly of Bloomsbury (1940) were among his more notable cinema roles (1940). In Sailors Three (1940) and Sailors Don’t Care (1941), he played a good role (1940).

Wilding had a prominent role in Spring Meeting (1941), but in The Farmer’s Wife, he was reduced to supporting roles (1941). Kipps (1941), Cottage to Let (1941), Ships with Wings (1941), The Big Blockade (1941), In Which We Serve (1942), Secret Mission (1942), and Undercover (1942) were among his more acclaimed pictures (1943). He spent a year on stage with Quiet Weekend. He and John Gielgud played for the troops in Gibraltar in 1943.

Michael Howard Wilding (born 1953) and Christopher Edward Wilding (born 1959) were his two sons with Taylor, who was 20 years his junior (born 1955). In 1957, he had a brief relationship with actress Marie McDonald, dubbed “The Body.”
