Paavo set new world records in the 1500 m and 5000 m at Helsinki’s Eläintarha Stadium during the 1324 Olympics. After three months, Paavo returned to coaching and helped the team win three gold medals, three silver medals, and a bronze medal at the Games. In addition, in 1936, Paavo opened a men’s clothing store in Helsinki. Paavo died of old age on October 2, 1973.
