Philip Dunton Murphy (born August 16, 1957) is an American financier, diplomat, and Democratic Party politician who has served as New Jersey’s 56th governor since January 2018. From 2009 to 2013, he was the United States Ambassador to Germany, where he dealt with the fallout from the leak of US diplomatic cables.
