Early Years and Personal Life

Lewis J. Blackmore and Violet gave birth to Ritchie Blackmore on April 14, 1945, in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. Blackmore’s family relocated to Heston, Middlesex, when he was two years old. At the age of 11, his father gave him his first guitar. When he was younger, Tommy Steele, who liked to play and bounce around, was someone he aspired to be like. He competed in a variety of sports when he was in school, such as javelin throw. At age 15, Blackmore quit school to work as a radio mechanic at Heathrow Airport because he didn’t like his school or teachers.

Big Jim Sullivan, a seasoned electric guitarist, taught him the instrument. He wed Margit Volkmar in 1964, and the two of them had a son named “Jürgen” together. In 1969, following their divorce, he wed former German dancer “Bärbel.” In 1970, the couple got a divorce. He began dating fashion model Candice Night in 1981, and the two got married in 2008 after fifteen years of engagement.

Career Ritchie Blackmore began his musical career as a session musician for Joe Meek’s record label. He participated in numerous live performances as a member of the English instrumental group “The Outlaws.” Chris Curtis invited him to join the band “Deep Purple,” and he accepted. “In Rock,” the band’s debut studio album from the Mark Two lineup, was well received by the audience.

Blackmore left the group in 1975 to start the new group “Rainbow.” Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, the group’s debut studio album, was released in the same year. Rising (1976), On Stage (1977), Down To Earth (1979), Difficult to Cure (1981), Straight Between the Eyes (1982), and many more are among the band’s further studio albums.
