Roger Angell was born in the United States on September 19, 1920. Katharine Sergeant Angell White, a legendary fiction editor and acclaimed essayist, and Ernest Angell, an attorney and former president of the American Civil Liberties Union, are his parents.

He is also the stepson of E.B. White, the author. He also attended Harvard University after graduating from Pomfret School. He even served in the United States Army Air Forces during WWII.

Roger was married to Carol Rogge Angell before accepting Maragaret as his true love. They were married in a little ceremony in 1964. However, due to Carol’s death on April 10, 2012, their romance came to a stop.

Rogge died at the age of seventy-three, after they had been married for forty-eight years. Metastatic breast cancer was the cause of her death. John Henry Angell, their only child, is now an adult and lives in Portland, Oregon.

Roger Angell’s Both Daughters Died

Evelyn Angell was the first woman he married. The precise date of their marriage and divorce has yet to be revealed. They had two beautiful daughters, Callie Angell and Alice Angell, despite their divorce.

Callie was Roger’s eldest daughter, and she worked as an expert on Andy Warhol’s films. She committed suicide on May 5, 2010. He even referenced her death in his essay from 2014, adding

the event’s oceanic force and mystery” – and his difficulty to grasp that “a beautiful daughter of mine, my oldest child, had taken her own life.”

Following that, on February 2nd, 2019, his second daughter, Andy, died. In Portland, Maine, she died of cancer.
