Ron began his broadcasting career in 1965 as a reporter and news contributor for KEZI-TV in Eugene, Oregon. In 1967, he left KEZI-TV to work as a producer and anchor for the 11 p.m. news at KGW-TV in Portland, Ore. From 1968 until 1974, he worked as a reporter and anchor for KPIX-TV in San Francisco.
In 1971, he also hosted Ron Magers Electric Impression, a Group W 30 minute weekly syndicated program. From 1974 through 1981, he worked at KSTP-TV, an ABC (previously NBC) affiliate. In 1998, he joined ABC 7 Chicago’s WLS-TV. With Cheryl Burton and Kathy Brock, he used to co-anchor the popular 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. program. Carol Marin and he co-hosted the show. He left WLS-TV in May of 2016.
