Ryan Shazier is making one-handed catches 20 months after serious spine injury:

Only 20 months ago, a national television audience watched in disbelief as Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier was left writhing on the ground with no movement in his legs after suffering a catastrophic spine injury. Before another prime-time game on Sunday, Shazier demonstrated his incredible growth in a relatively short period of time. Less than two weeks after the injury, Shazier watched his teammates play the New England Patriots from a Heinz Field suite, posted a photo of himself standing with his arm around Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Feb. 1, 2018, and responded to a standing ovation by fans at a Pittsburgh Penguins game by standing up on his own six days later. Shazier came onstage with his then-fiancee Michelle Rodriguez two months later to reveal the Steelers’ first-round pick in the 2018 draft. He started doing box jumps as part of his fitness routine a year later. He and Rodriguez danced at their wedding celebration later that spring. And this week, while roaming around Heinz Field before the Steelers’ “Sunday Night Football” preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, Shazier was casually catching passes—some of them one-handed. Given where he was less than two years ago, it was an unbelievable sight. Shazier has already been ruled out for the remainder of the season. But, at this point, his dreams of returning to football and someday becoming a Hall of Famer don’t seem that far away.
