Education

Hot grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. He enrolled at Fair Lawn High School, where he received numerous honors throughout his high school career. He broke his leg in seventh grade, but after recovering, he became even stronger. Hot was also a member of the MetroStars (later, New York Red Bulls) academy, for whom he competed in the 2007 U-17 Clubs World Cup. He also captained the academy’s u16 and u18 teams.

Hot decided to attend Boston College in 2009. During his college years, he was a member of the New York Red Bulls Academy as well as the New York Red Bull NPSL squad. Despite being a high school student, he was named to the NSCAA Herman Watch List. During his senior year, he played American football as a kicker for Fair Lawn.

Professional career

Šaćir Hot spent his first summer away from the Red Bulls’ first-team training, where he made an impression on coach Hans Backe. He spent time with Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund in the January 2011 transfer window, hoping to sign his first professional contract. Borussia Mönchengladbach invited him back for preseason, but he instead accepted a professional contract with the New York Red Bulls. On January 28, 2011, Hot was signed as a Homegrown Player by the New York Red Bulls.

On June 28, 2011, Hot made his first-team debut for New York City FC in a preseason friendly against Atlante. In the United States Open Cup, he made his professional debut by playing the entire second half in a 2–1 victory over FC New York. The Red Bulls released Hot and Matt Kassel on February 17, 2012. Hot joined Hessen Kassel of the Regionalliga Südwest a year later, on January 15, 2013. Before returning to the United States, he would create an image for the club. Then he almost signed with Antigua Barracuda of the USL Pro, but he backed out when the club couldn’t protect his international transfer certificate.

Hot has played for the United States Under-18 and Under-20 men’s national teams. He assisted the U-20s in winning the 2010 Milk Cup with a 3–0 victory over Northern Ireland in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. Hot was also a member of the final 20-man squad selected to travel to Guatemala for U-20 World Cup qualification in April 2011. His first match as a coach was scheduled for the following day in the United States in an Open Cup qualifier against NY Greek American, but the NYside lost. On October 16, 2016, Hot made his debut as head coach against Lansdowne Bhoys in the second qualifying round of the US Open Cup. Motown won 3–2 and qualified for the 2017 tournament proper. On May 10, 2017, Hot’s side faced National Premier Soccer League side New Jersey Copa in the first round of the United States Open Cup, which Motown won 2–1 in overtime. Hot’s Motown had finished the Garden State Soccer League season undefeated, having won all 12 of their games.

On May 17, one week later, Hot led Motown in the second round of the U.S. Then they competed in the Open Cup against the Rochester Rhinos of the United Soccer League. Motown was eliminated from the tournament after losing 3-0. It was announced in December 2017 that Motown would join the National Premier Soccer League for the 2018 season. The following season, in the club’s inaugural season in the league, Hot led the team to first place in the Keystone Conference, scoring 40 goals and conceding only five. Furthermore, Hot coached Motown to a Keystone Conference Playoff victory over FC Monmouth.

Hot led Motown to the NPSL National Final against Miami FC 2 in the Regional and National Playoffs, where they were defeated 3–1 by the Paul Dalglish-led side. During the 2019 season, Hot led Motown to third place in the Keystone Conference, qualifying them for the Keystone Conference Playoffs once more. Motown qualified for the Regional and National playoffs once more, but they were defeated 1–0 by FC Baltimore Christos in the Regional Semifinals on July 13.
