Sam Watters was a member of the R&B group Color Me Badd, whose 1990 album was multi-platinum. Mark Calderon, Kevin Thornton, and Bryan Abrams, all from high school, formed this band with him. Robert Kool Bell discovered the group when it was created. In 1964, Bell was a member of the Kool and the Gang band in Jersey City. Bell assisted his band in signing with Giant Records in 1990.

Sam worked on tunes like I Adore Mi Amor and All 4 Love with the help of other members. In 1998, Color Me Badd’s members all split up. Watters then embarks on a solo career as a musician, producer, and composer. He met Louis Biancaniello, a record producer and songwriter, in 1996. They’ve been collaborating since then. They co-wrote and produced the hit song I Wanna Love You Forever, which was performed by Jessica Simpson and published in 1999. It charted at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.

Watters and Louis collaborated with Anastacia Lyn Newkirk on her debut track, I’m Outta Love, off her album Not That Kind, as producers and co-writers. Anastacia’s second studio album, One Day in Your Life, was released in March 2002, and they collaborated on it. They collaborated on a song in 2004 with Watters’ wife and another American Idol contestant. Watters established The Runaways, a production and songwriting group with members Biancaniello, Wayne Wilkins, Rico Love, and Ryan Tedder, in 2007.

In 2007, they collaborated with Leona Louise Lewis, a British pop artist, and published their debut album Sprit. Over seven million copies of this record have been sold globally. They both started their own record label, London Police, in 2010. When they met with Matthew Koma, a singer and composer. They hired Koma to work for their firm, London Police.
