Sasha Solomon Lost her Job after Criticizing Elon Musk after His Twitter Takeover

  • Sasha Solomon was one of many Twitter employees laid off after Musk purchased the company.

  • The software engineer on Twitter expressed her displeasure with the new CEO, which resulted in her job loss.

  • Musk laid off half of the company’s 7500 employees in an effort to reduce costs.

Sasha Solomon was fired after she criticized Elon Musk.

Sasha Solomon, a software engineer, was one of many Twitter employees fired after criticizing the company’s new owner, Elon Musk.

Solomon, a software engineer at the social media giant in Portland, was taken aback when her account was suddenly locked. It occurred while the Twitter employee was attempting to check the most recent updates and messages on Slack.

Sasha then attempted to access her work email account, which did not open. She then logged into her personal email account, where she discovered an email from a Twitter human resources executive.

The unexpected email was as follows:

Your recent behavior has violated company policy,”

According to Ms. Solomon, she then called her husband and said, “I guess I don’t work here anymore.”

Sasha later discovered that she was one of many employees who were fired at the institution for opposing the new boss. Sasha, for one, had previously expressed her opposition to Elon’s plans to acquire Twitter.

She is still unsure whether the challenging tweets caused her to be fired or if she was one of the 3700 employees who were laid off shortly after Musk took over the office in October.

How did Solomon land her job at Twitter?

Sasha grew up in the Idaho town of Coeur d’Alene. She never imagined herself working for one of the world’s largest corporations.

Sasha attended the University of Idaho and majored in computer science and mathematics. She desired to return to her home state and work there.

However, a close friend of hers got a good job at a tech company in San Francisco and suggested she look for work there as well. Solomon eventually began working as a software engineer at Medium after working at a Bay Area start-up.

She accepted a position at Twitter in December 2018.

Also she was in the core services group, in charge of the company’s digital infrastructure.

She specialized in GraphQL, the query language that powers Twitter’s application program. Ms. Solomon soon found herself doing a lot of public speaking, representing the company at events and conferences.

Her husband, Mike, a Twitter employee, has been granted permission to work remotely and will relocate to Portland from San Francisco in October 2020. She was promoted to manager in 2021 as a result of her hard work. She was in charge of about ten engineers at the time.

She stated:

“I had a lot of opportunities to grow,”

Solomon admired the company’s culture and admitted:

“Twitter has always been about open expression,”

“Internally, we’ve always been very vocal. If you have something to say, you never had to worry about repercussions.”

When Elon Musk announced his intention to buy Twitter in April, Sasha Solomon, like thousands of others, expressed her displeasure with a tweet.

She posted a picture of a coffee shop with a sign in the window saying it was closed for a staff meeting.

Ms. Solomon stated:

He better not be buying my favorite coffee shop too,”
