Stan Lee Documentary, Marvel Announces Coming to Disney+ in 2023 on His 100th Birthday

About Wednesday, Marvel Entertainment tweeted a 25-second video confirming the release of a Disney+ documentary on Stan Lee in 2023. The announcement coincides with the late comic book creator’s 100th birthday.

“100 years of fantasizing. A century of creation. “100 years of Stan Lee,” Marvel Entertainment said in the teaser’s title. “Stan Lee, an Original documentary, will be available on @DisneyPlus in 2023.”

The newly released video includes clips from some of Stan Lee’s smaller parts and cameo appearances in films. The montage ends with a progressive zoom-out that reveals an illustration of the multi-talented creator.

Lee is best known for developing beloved characters such as Spider-Man, the Hulk, Iron Man, the X-Men, and others while working alongside fellow writer-artists such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko. Even after leaving Marvel in the 1990s, Lee remained engaged with the company through cameo appearances and executive producer credits on Marvel films.

Genius Brands International created a new online store with three exclusive Lee-branded collections earlier this month to commemorate Lee’s centennial. The entertainment firm controls the rights to Lee’s name, voice, likeness, signature, and intellectual property licensing, and has agreed to co-executive produce the “StanLee” documentary.

“Stan was born in New York City 100 years ago. “Over the last century, his work reshaped the pop cultural landscape and influenced millions,” according to a tweet from the official Stan Lee Twitter account, which is still active. “Fans left messages for Stan’s centennial at the LA Comic-Con. Insight. Legend. Hero. These are some of the words that came up repeatedly. #StanLee100.”

Happy 100th Birthday to Stan Lee,” tweeted “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn. “You are greatly missed, my friend. #StanLee100
