After the Deepwater Horizon oil catastrophe, it was agreed by Stephen and Costner that Baldwin and friend Spyridon Contogouris would be permitted to pitch the technology to BP, but Kevin met with BP without them. Stephen claimed that Costner bought out Baldwin and Contogouris with the $18 million down payment that BP agreed to at that meeting, forcing the two men to give up $2 million of their company stock immediately before BP paid $52 million for the CINC technology. In June 2012, a jury decided in Costner’s favor.

Together with his co-stars in “The Usual Suspects,” Baldwin received a National Board of Review award and the Awards Circuit Community Award in 1995. For “Biodome” in 1996, he also won a Stinker Award for Worst On-Screen Hairstyle. For “Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice,” Stephen received a DVD Exclusive Award nomination for Best Actor in 2003.
