After three seasons of playing for his alma university from freshman to junior year, Oshie decided to forego his senior year of college and sign with the NHL franchise St. Louis Blues on May 13th, 2008. On October 22nd, 2008, he scored his first NHL goal against the Detroit Red Wings. For his rapid and forceful style of play, Oshie quickly became a fan favorite. He also earned the NHL’s 2008–09 titles Goal of the Year honors, a fan-voted competition on the NHL’s website, near the close of the season.

He was the final addition to the American roster for the 2012 tournament. On January 1, 2014, he was named to the American Olympic team for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Oshie was one of six American-born players who made the final squad for Team USA. Dan Bylsma, Team USA’s head coach, frequently chose T.J. to engage in a shootout during a preliminary-round game against Russia on February 15th, which ended in a 3–2 American triumph.

Because the first three rounds were deadlocked, international regulations stated that coaches could re-use players as often as they pleased. As a result, Bylsma selected T.J five times in a row, and he turned four of six shot attempts, including the shootout-winning stroke in the eighth round. Injuries | T.J.
