Ted began playing golf when he was two years old. Potter Sr., his father, was a golf instructor who taught his son. He dominated Florida’s youth golf tours, winning a slew of junior tournaments. Potter is estimated to have won over 60 mini-tours at various levels of competition. The golfer competed on the Nationwide Tour from 2003 to 2011. Between these years, he won more than a dozen series.

Potter Jr. made his official PGA debut in 2012 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. In the same year, he won his first PGA Tour event, the Greenbrier Classic.
