Formal education
Mike grew up in Parma, Ohio, and attended Normandy High School, where he was captain of the basketball and cross country teams. He also swam and was a member of the student government as well as the editor of his high school yearbook.

Professional Development
In 2003, The Miz joined the Ultimate Pro Wrestling to pursue his wrestling career. The following year, he competed in Tough Enough, the winner of which received a WWE contract. Despite finishing second in the reality show, he was offered a developmental contract by WWE.
The Miz made his Smackdown debut in 2006 before being moved to ECW. He won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Jim Morrison, defeating Matt Hardy and Montel Vontavious Porter.
In 2009, he defeated Kofi Kingston to win the US Championship.
