The pair, however, was unable to maintain their love for a long time and eventually divorced. Brian married Paula Da Silva in 2010 after their breakup, and they had a daughter named Layla Simone White (born in 2014).

From stage performer to movie star

Valarie Pettiford began her acting career in the theatre, when she first appeared in the musical Sweet Charity. In 1978, she appeared in William F. Brown’s A Broadway Musical. She also appeared in a number of stage productions, including West Side Story and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

In 1978, Pettiford made her film debut in The Wiz, a musical film. In 1984, she appeared as a dancer in the criminal drama film The Cotton Club. Her other films include Stomp the Yard, My Favorite Five, and others.

Valarie starred as Jackie in the CBS crime thriller series The Equalizer in 1988. From 1990 until 1994, she co-starred alongside Nafessa Williams in the soap drama One Life to Live.
