González and other students, including fellow Parkland survivors Hogg, Kasky, and Sarah Chadwick, organized and took part in the March for Our Lives demonstration on March 24, 2018.

González also paid honor to the victims by naming each one and citing instances of things they would never be able to accomplish again during his six-minute speech, which was the same length of the Parkland tragedy. She said in May 2021 that they would start using the personal name “X,” claiming dissociation from their former identity and feminine pronouns.
