She participated in the three-minute Soundies musical “The Lamp of Memory” in 1942 as well as the two revues “Hollywood Revels” and “Glamour over Hollywood” in 1941.

She also signed a contract with Paramount Pictures in 1942 to serve as Dorothy Lamour’s backup, and she continued to appear in uncredited roles in movies including “For Whom the Bell Tolls” (1943), “Let’s Face It” (1943), and “So Proudly We Hail!” (1943). She later made appearances in several movies, such as “Frontier Gal” (1946), “Black Bart” (1948), “Casbah” (1948), “Criss Cross” (1949), “Calamity Jane and Sam Bass” (1949), “The Gal Who Took the West” (1950), and the British movie “Hotel Sahara” (1951).

In 1951, she entered into a new deal with Universal. She also worked for other production houses. She also appeared alongside Edmund O’Brien in Silver City (1951), Rock Hudson in Scarlet Angel (1952) and Sea Devils (1953), Alec Guinness in The Captain’s Paradise (1953), and Sterling Hayden in Shotgun (1955).

Following the huge success of “The Ten Commandments,” she acted alongside Clark Gable and Sidney Poitier in “Band of Angels” (1957), made an appearance in the French movie “Timbuktu” (1958), and as Mary Magdalene in “The Sword and the Cross.” She was heavily in debt when she landed the role in the 1966–1967 television series “The Munsters.”She also succeeded in pursuing a second singing career. In addition to her 1957 LP “Yvonne De Carlo Sings,” she also issued the singles “I Love a Man” and “Say Goodbye” in 1950, “Take It Or Leave It” and “Three Little Stars” in 1955, and “That’s Love” and “The Secret of Love” in 1958.

How is the Personal Life of Yvonne De Carlo?

During her early career, Yvonne De Carlo had relationships with a number of strong men, including actor Robert Stack and businessman Howard Hughes. She had even been engaged to actor Howard Duff for a brief period of time before she met stuntman Robert Drew “Bob” Morgan on the set of “Shotgun” in 1955. At the time, Morgan was married, and De Carlo had no desire to jeopardize their union.

They grew close after the passing of Morgan’s wife, and on November 21, 1955, they were wed at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Reno, Nevada. Bruce, who was born in 1956, and Michael Morgan were the couple’s two sons (1957). The marriage was divorced in 1973.

His Death

In 1998, Yvonne had a stroke and needed to be taken to the hospital right away. She spent her last years in a hospital in Woodland Hills called the Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital, where she passed away on January 8, 2007, from heart failure. In accordance with her wishes, she was cremated. Her other son, Michael, passed away in 1997, leaving only her son Bruce as a survivor.
